This article explains how to embed each guest's personal QR code as an image directly into your email templates using a placeholder.
REQUIREMENTS
Before you begin, you need:
- Access to the AirLST Suite with permission to edit email templates
- An event with guests for whom a QR code is generated
- An existing or new email template in the editor
WHAT IS A DYNAMIC IMAGE PLACEHOLDER?
Placeholders are automatically replaced with the respective recipient's data when the email is sent. A dynamic image placeholder works in the same way, but provides an image instead of text.
With the placeholder {{guest.qr_code_image_data_base64}}, each guest receives their own QR code directly as an image in the email content. You only design the template once, and the Suite automatically inserts the appropriate QR code for each guest when the email is sent.
| Important: The placeholder must be written exactly as shown, including the double curly braces and without spaces. Even a single typo will cause no QR code to be displayed for the guest. |
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
- In your event, open the email template into which you want to insert the QR code.
- Drag an Image element to the desired location in the template.
- Select the image element to open its settings.
- Activate the "Dynamic image" toggle and enter the placeholder {{guest.qr_code_image_data_base64}} in the field for the image link of the dynamic URL.
- Adjust the image size and alignment as needed.
- Save the template.
| Note: No image is displayed in place of the QR code in the editor yet, as the placeholder is only populated with the respective guest's data when the email is sent. |
BENEFITS OF THIS USE
| Benefit | Description |
|---|---|
| Individual for each guest | Each guest automatically receives their personal QR code, so you do not need to customise individual emails. |
| Visible directly | The QR code appears in the email content. Guests do not need to open an attachment or follow a link. |
| Flexible design | You decide where and at what size the QR code appears in your email layout. |
| Faster check-in | On the day of the event, guests simply show the QR code on their smartphone, and it can be scanned directly with the Check-In app. |
| One template for everyone | The template only needs to be created once and can be used for all guests and subsequent sends. |
| Tip: Before the actual send, send yourself a test email addressed to a test guest to check whether the QR code is displayed correctly. |
