This article explains how to enable or disable the notification about unchecked-in companions in the AirLST Check-in App – and the resulting behavior at the scan device.
PREREQUISITES
- Latest version of the AirLST Check-in App (Release 04/26 or later).
- A valid AirLST account with access to the desired event.
- Guests in the event may have associated companions.
OVERVIEW
When checking in a primary guest, the Check-in App can automatically alert you to any associated companions who have not yet been checked in. This behavior can now be explicitly toggled on or off.
The purpose of this option is to optimize the check-in flow depending on the event type: in traditional events, the notification provides valuable reminders about missing companions. In high-volume scenarios or pure check-in-only setups, it is often unwanted.
|
NOTE This setting is device-specific. Other devices at the same event remain in their selected configuration. |
BEHAVIOR COMPARISON
| Mode | Behavior After Check-in |
|---|---|
| Notification enabled (default) | An alert appears showing companions not yet checked in. Optionally navigate directly to the companion view. |
| Notification disabled | No alert, no automatic navigation to the companion view. The next scan can be performed immediately. |
HOW TO DISABLE THE COMPANION NOTIFICATION
- Open the desired event in the AirLST Check-in App.
- Navigate to the app settings.
- Open the "Check-in Behavior" or "Notifications" section.
- Toggle off "Companion Notification".
- The next time a primary guest is checked in, no companion alert will appear.
USE CASE
| Scenario | Recommended Setting |
|---|---|
| Traditional event with companions | Notification enabled – helps capture complete groups. |
| High-volume admission (concert, trade show) | Notification disabled – maximum scan throughput. |
| Check-in Only View | Notification disabled – reduced, distraction-free scan flow. |
| Conferences with separate sessions | Notification enabled – facilitates companion attribution. |
LIMITATIONS AND NOTES
- The setting does not change the data itself – companions remain associated with the primary guest and can be checked in manually via the guest list.
- When Check-in Only View is active, the practical effect is smaller since the alert is only available in limited form in that mode anyway.
