In this article, you will learn which building blocks make up ticket sales and how you use them to sell paid tickets and add-ons for your events.
WHAT ARE PAID EVENTS?
Paid Events extend your event registration with ticket sales, online payment and automatic invoicing. Your guests select tickets and add-ons directly on the landing page, pay via a connected payment provider and then receive their booking confirmation, invoice and digital ticket by email.
Payments are processed directly through your own account with the payment provider. You are the Merchant of Record – AirLST never has access to your customer funds.
PREREQUISITES
Before you start, you need:
- An active AirLST event with Paid Events enabled
- The role "Company Owner" or "Admin"
- Your company details (company name, address, VAT ID if applicable) and legal documents (terms and conditions, privacy policy, cancellation policy if applicable)
- An own account with Stripe, Mollie or PayPal if you offer paid tickets
THE BUILDING BLOCKS AT A GLANCE
| Area | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Payments → Invoice Details & Taxes | Enter company details for your invoices and set the default tax rate |
| Payments → Legal & Policies | Add links to your terms and conditions, privacy policy and cancellation policy for the checkout |
| Payments → Payment Providers | Connect Stripe, Mollie or PayPal to your event |
| Tickets & Add-ons → Guest Groups | Control which tickets and prices individual groups see (e.g. VIP, press) |
| Tickets & Add-ons → Ticket Categories | Create ticket types with price, VAT rate, quota and sales period |
| Tickets & Add-ons → Add-ons | Offer extras such as workshops, hotel or parking – quantity-based, slot-based or night-based |
| Tickets & Add-ons → Promo Codes | Create discount codes and track redemptions |
| Bookings & Invoices | View orders, order status and invoice PDFs and download them |
THE CHECKOUT OPTIONS
You add the checkout to your landing page using the Registration Form for Bookings module. Under Checkout type in the event settings, you choose between two options:
| Option | Suitable for |
|---|---|
| Standard Checkout | Events with personalized tickets, add-ons and companions – with open or closed registration |
| Express Checkout | Central ticket purchasing without immediate personalization, e.g. when an assistant books tickets for a team – paid tickets with open registration only |
| Tip: You can also process free tickets and add-ons through the Standard Checkout without a connected payment provider. The booking then works as a simple registration without payment. |
PAYMENT PROVIDERS AND FEES
You connect one of the three supported payment providers per event: Stripe, Mollie or PayPal. Which payment methods your guests see at checkout (e.g. credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal wallet) depends on the selected provider. Bank transfer via SEPA is also available through Stripe on request.
An AirLST platform fee of 4% of the gross cart value plus statutory VAT applies to every booking. The fees of your payment provider are charged in addition.
| Note: Installment payments, Buy Now, Pay Later (e.g. Klarna) and payment terms with automatic dunning are not supported. |
CANCELLATION AND REFUND
You issue refunds in the dashboard of your payment provider. Then remove the booked items in the guest profile under Tickets & Add-ons and set the guest's status to Cancelled. This releases the quota again.
| Important: Guests cannot trigger a refund themselves. Cancellation requests always go directly to you as the organizer. |
